Gettysburg trip update

Posted on May 24 2017 - 8:25am

Good morning Scouts,

Here is the mid week update on our exciting trip this weekend.

We will meet at the VFW on Saturday morning at 6:30am for a 7:00am departure. We will be wearing Class A uniforms around Gettysburg so you can wear them on the ride up or carry them separatly so you can put them on when we get there.  We will not be going to our campsite until after we have visited the museum and such.

We will be stopping at some point to shop for our food as a troop.

The weather is supposed to be on the mid 70's and partly sunny.  It may rain a bitnon Sunday so make sure you have your rain gear.

Saturday we will focus on the museum and perhaps one of the short hikes sonwe can get a better understanding of the history.  We will then gonto our campsite, make camp and cook dinner.

Sunday we will do more exploring of the battlefield, and then finish the day with a "ghost tour" that Bob has selected for us.

Monday we will wake up early and make breakfast, break camp, and head back to Richmond.   Hopefully traffic will be light and we will get home around 12:30 or so.

Monday afternoon we have the Memorial Day picnic at the VFW for those of you that can  make it.  It will be a good chance to meet our sponsors.

Mr. Mooney is also coming along as our third leader so I would like to thanks him for stepping up to help us out.

$$$$$
As we will be in Gettysburg most of the time we only have dinner in camp on Saturday.

The scouts should pack a lunch for Sat on the trip and Sunday at the battlefield or they can bring money to buy food.   Dinner on Sunday will be in Gettysburg so they should bring some money for that as well as a snack on the way back home.

Looking forward to seeing you all Saturday morning.  It will be a great trip.

Thanks
Chuck

Gettysburg update

After further discussions with Bob we will go ahead with the trip with only Bob and i as leaders.  I would prefer to have 3 leaders on a trip like this however alot o planning and work has gone into the trip and the boys seem excited about it.

We have a trip to Gettysburg planned for Memorial Day weekend.

While this will be an exciting trip and should be highly educational it take alot of planning to pull it together.
